«Spruce bark beetle control measures: development of a damage assessment tool (iTypographus) and a new pest control method»

No. 24-00-C0LA1601-000031
The project is implemented by Riga Technical University, Climate Dimensions SIA, Latvian Rural Forum association and forest owner Gatis Teteris.

The spruce bark beetle Ips typographus is a serious threat to European spruce forests, especially pure spruce stands. An unidentified pest, and therefore a delayed response, threatens especially small and medium-sized forest owners, who lack the necessary knowledge to effectively detect and manage such an invasion. The project aims to reduce the spread of Ipstypographus and damage to spruce forests. To achieve this, the project will develop a user-friendly platform to enable small and medium-sized forest owners to assess the risk of Ips typographus infestation and its potential impact on the health of their forest.
